Humidity problems

Mold or damp walls, stains on your walls, damaged paint or musty smell… are all signs of a humidity problem. It may appear as something rather small, and that may be the case at first, but it never stays that way. Unless you take away the problem by eliminating the source.

There are several types of humidity problems we encounter daily.

Rising damp

Rising damp is a humidity problem that originates at the ground floor, due to the wall(s) absorbing ground water. It is a structural problem with your homes water barrier.

The result is visible on the walls. Up to about 1,5 meter high, you can see stains, mold or salpeter on your wall. Cracked paint or damaged plaster could be noticeable.

The only way to fix this is by creating a new water barrier. For that, Murprotec uses the injection method. We inject the moist walls with our own MSC+ formula, which will stop your walls from absorbing water.

Water infiltration

Little cracks or porous brick can lead to water infiltration in your exterior walls. It starts outside, but with some time can also become a problem indoors.

You often notice it when exterior walls stay damp. In winter, there is an increased risk. Cold (freezing) temperatures combined with damp external walls can cause further damage and cracks, making the problem even bigger.

Murprotec coats the exterior walls with a transparent, moisture-repellent treatment. This protects them from moisture and dirt, whilst preserving the building’s authentic character.

Condensation

Condensation on windows or walls is a very common problem in European households. Due to bad air circulation, water particles in the air touch down on cold surfaces.

To solve condensation and mold problems, Murprotec developed its own air treatment: our CTA-system. This filters the outside air and creates a slight overpressure, ensuring maximum air circulation.

Water in the basement

A lot of basements suffer under the pressure of ground water. Walls absorb the water or it just seeps in via the walls or floor, causing a bad smell, mold and a complete or partly unusable basement.

Murprotec offers two solutions. Which one is more adequate depends on the situation in your basement.

Draining system: the water will be collected via channels in a pit and removed via a pump.

Basement casing: the walls will be treated with an epoxy coating.

Sometimes combined with an additional air treatment to guarantee air circulation in the basement.
